David Cromack. Ambient Flow’, acrylic paint on board

David Cromack graduated with a BA (Fine Art) degree from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (now Curtin University) in Perth in 1977. Since that time he has followed a career in magazine journalism and book publishing, but in recent years has been able to devote more time to his painting, alternating between periods of landscapes and abstract works.
For many years David has been fascinated by Brian Eno’s concept of ‘ambient music’, which puts an emphasis on tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structures or rhythms. His desire to create a visual equivalent is at the heart of many of his abstract works, including a new series using the Aboriginal dot technique.
